Mains filter wrong connected in an industrial product!

I am just scavenging an old distribution amp, an Audionics WM85, to use the torroid and mains filter for my Marantz CD63.

Removing the input mains filter, for my surprise, the filter is connected the wrong way!

Does not make sense, isn't it?

It doesn't matter. It's like connecting two resistors in series. It doesn't matter which one the signal sees first. In this case, all the current in the AC line has to pass through the filter. The filter is not directional (unlike some speaker cables ;) - hah!).
