This player is similar to a Marantz CD65II or Philips CD473.
I get no display - no buttons work. Voltage is present on display board. I tried a different front panel - same problems. This occurs after installing a new clock. I've installed quite a few clocks in players without problems. There was a different aftermarket clock in this machine that was working fine. Anyway, I'm just wondering what sort of failure mode this might be. Bad uP? Bad clock signal? The latter usually is accompanied by strange spindle motor activity which is not happening. What do you guys think? Thanks, Jeff |

There is clock signal on pin 11 of SAA7220.
I've traced it to the display uP chip - MC6805. It is not getting power, nor is +5V being sent to the display itself. Other chips are getting +5V, so it must be a localised problem. |

Nothing like causing your own problems...or having a public conversation with yourself.
A previously repaired PCB track (done prior to my ownership of the player) became unrepaired during the clock install. Everything works a treat now. Jeff |

Hi Jeff
Well done on creating you own problem and then solving it. I've got a Marantz CD60 with a dodgy display. The right side is bright but gradually decreases in intensity to the left. Any ideas? Fin

Check the display voltage (vf1 and vf2).
Sounds like the heater elements are not getting enough voltage. You sould have around 18-20V DC and 3-4V ac to the display. |
