Flashmute freeware utility solved my problem. Flash content in some web pages was messing with my master volume and even unmuting it. A big problem for me because of the 400 watt/channel power amps that I use with a kxproject crossover and large loudspeakers!
http://www.indev.no/?p=projects#flashmute You can mute flash content or set the volume level to something less than full blast. If you have an install problem let me know as I've solved it and have notified the developer.
