Default DVD player for CD?

Hello,

My NAD C540 CD payer is dead due to a deffective motor.
As I'm unable to get a replacement for it, I'm considering the purchase of a standard DVD player as a replacement to the NAD.

Any comments on how a DVD player compares to a mid level CD player when playing CDs? (it will not be used for video, stereo 2 channels audio only).

Thanks,
