Hi all,
it's time for new project, so I decided to go digital. Yesterday I serched TI web page and found very interesting chip - TAS5518 It has 8 ouputs, each of them has separete volume control and there's also a master volume control with power supply modulation and digital attenuation. Beside this, it has digital audio processor which can make 7 biquad filters for each chanel, delays, etc. So, I decided to make "Digital Power Crossover" for my PC multimedia system. I have plans to build loudspeakers, but I allways didn't feel good about passive crossovers and making them active with classical analog power amplifiers requires a lot of heatsinking and a lot of space. With full digital system I should have freedom choosing crossover freqencies, slopes, EQ, delay, etc. Together with some precision clock, good driver and power FETs I can get very good sounding system (I hope so) So the questions: - Did anyone tried this? - Are there some recomendations and experiences with something like this (here's a lot of info about digital amplifiers, but maybe something new)? - Is this doable? - Or I'll do better with 3 months tweaking crossover and using my analog amplifiers (my last project)? Every reply is invited Thanks & regards Robo |
