Short Question:
Can I connect SPDIF OUT of one soundblaster to SPDIF IN of a second soundblaster directly via the internal connnectors for the live drive bay? The drive bay connector pinout can be found here: http://www.electricstart.de/pic/aud_ext.gif Long Question: I own two Soundblaster cards, a new Audigy 2 zs and older Live Value. They are both in one PC, and both working (I can only install one set of creative drivers, so the Live is with normal windows drivers). I am running out of recording sources, since mic and line in are already used, and i dont own a live drive bay. However, there are the connectors for this drive bay, with feature 4 spdif outs, and one spdif input. I want to create a two-wire cable to connect spdif-out 0 of the sb live card to the spdif in of the audigy, the second wire being ground. Could this probably work, or did I missunderstand/oversee something important? Thank you very much for your help. Greetings from Vienna, Bernhard |

I just tried it:
The soundblaster live has a AUD_EXT Connector of which I connected the pins 17 (SPdif out 0) and 18 (GND) to the Audigy 2 zs external port, pins 5(spdif in1 ) and pin 6(GND). If i tell the sb live to only output digitally, signal gets routed to the spdif in of the audigy. Additionally I connected pin 25 and pin 35 of the audigy, to simulate a live drive. Thanks anyway. |
