Hi all.
I've just finished my first DAC. Miraculously it works. I've used a CS8416 receiver driving a PCM1798 DAC. The receiver is in hardware control mode. The filters are of my own design, and are implemented independantly on each phase of the DAC output, with the conversion to single ended for the output only made at the final drive stage. The unit has 6 independant power supplies 2 for the receiver 2 for the DAC and 2 for the filter/output stage. Each rail is regulated on the main board using TL431 shunt regulators, fed from a seperate PSU board with 3 transformers feeding current sources. So far the sound is very promising, i need to do more detailed listening tests and allow a while for burn-in. When i get to the office next week i'll take some pictures and post a schematic. Had to post because i'm very excited that i've managed to make it work! Chris |
