Has anyone built this DAC?

I only see a couple of threads on it. It looks pretty simple to build. And nice quality board etc. But I don't find alot abot the sound quality from people who have built them.

I'm wondering how it compares to commercial offerings, like Wavelength Brick etc, or other homebrew USB DACs.

Also, I'm wondering why are they using an external DAC chip. In this thread he prefers the internal DAC to the 1543

PCM2707 USB-->I2S how to use etc.
