Perhaps it belongs in the same series as my CDP970. Look at the two large chips close to the output: are they PCM56? If they are then it's probably very alike. You should get yourself a service manual before you do any mods. Carlos |

Thank You Carlos,
The chips in CDP-470 are: bigest: OKI C6458-38 too big: Sony CXA1081 Sony CXA1082B and smalest: CXA1291 (2 pieces, close to optics) M5294P and M5204P are close to output Sony CXD2550 Sony CXD1161 M5231 is smales 5 pins vertical montage Except chips there are 5 trim-pots with this signs: T BAL F BIAS F GAIN T GAIN VCO , but there are no any PCM's huh...I really hope someone have service manual for Sony CDP-470? |

Maybe you can't get too far with this player. If I am not wrong those chips are the analog stages. The thing to do might be to improve the chips and the parts around them. But I think the ICs are vertical types, which make the swapping not too much straightforward. But you can get adaptors that might let you do that. You can also improve the power supply, with better caps and better regulators. but I would start with the analog stage. AFTER you change the ICs, perhaps using low-offset types, you may consider eliminating the output cap. But not until you have an output of just a few millivolts there. Carlos |

Hi bezobrazniq,
"Kak e w Ruse So, as I wrote in dir.bg, after the CXD 2550 digital filter some DAC should be there! What is after it? If you find a multibit DACs there, probably you can improve the player a lot. But the analog upgrade may give less results than the PSU and Clock upgrades. Go on and try, and if you come to Sofia I can show you how an old Sony can sound, for you to have a starting point. But, mine is multibit one - PCM56P x 2 I'm still searching for the perfect housing player for my 2 AD1862s....

There is some new elements "arived" after look at the bottom of PCB:
Sony CXD1125 (with sign on PCB sit nex to chip- DSP) and Sanyo LC9600P (with sign- RAM). They are close to Sony CXD2550. There is signs below parts, on the other side of PCB: below Sony CXA1081 - RF below Sony CXA1082B - SSP below Sony CXD2550 - DF below Sony CXD1161 - D/A and below, between CXD1161 and M5204P there is sign: AMP Analog out come from M5204P through resistors ot RCA's. The sign of the clock is: D169D9 908-22 |

I'm waiting for you to filter the DC supplies and see the effect. Then you may proceed with external Bessel filter after the DAC - see if you have a couple outputs for each channel to the M5204 chip - so you should have 4 signal lines. then you can install differential input /bessel/ filter - for instance the one from AD1852 or AD1853 datasheet, with you fashionable OPamps or discrettes if you want

I'm not familiar with that model but maybe needs a new drive belt for the drawer drive.
