Arrow Ping - John Westlake (yes , another!)

hi , i just need some info if you have the time.......

I own a cambridge audio CD4SE ( yes another cambridge question for you! )

It was working very well until the other day when i opened it up to give it a dust for the first time since buying it and since then the LCD screen fails to appear. the green LED's are on albeit dimmer than when i bought the unit.....

i didnt bang or knock anything inside the unit and i was very careful not to stress anything - just brush away the dust that had entered when the cd draw was opened.

Just wondered , if you might know what the problem is ? being the designer (as far as i know)

many thanks for all and any help & advice !

James.

Sorry for the late reply, I have just return from China – where I cannot afford the time to check this forum regularly.

Does your unit still display the characters? Or just the Green Back Light – If the characters are still visible – but with a dark green and patchy backlight I suspect that some of the backlight bulbs have gone – I believe the CD4SE used 3 or 4 bulbs. With use, the filaments get very brittle – and even small vibrations can cause them to fail.

I cannot recall the power (voltage) rating of these bulbs – you would need to contact Cambridge Audio, or measure the AC supply to the Backlight strip on the rear of the LCD Light Box.

John
