Default Creating new rubber rings for CDM hubs

Hi there!

Has anyone any idea what I could use to create new rubber rings for worn CDM4 hubs? I believe the original black rings are made from nextel (according to some on Naim forum).

The rubber ring was extremely worn on my CDM4/22 on my Naim CDI (bought second hand - looks forth hand!!). I removed what little was left, and created a thin shim of rubber (similar to what Philips used in their CDM2 transports) cut to the correct size and cut-out from a kids party balloon!! It's quite thin and does the job pretty well, but still not as thin as the original nextel ring.

Has anyone any suggestions where I could get some very thin rubber from - must be fairly 'grippy' though to stop CD from slipping. Perhaps a silpad cut to size might work well?

Any ideas?

Cheers!

- John

Hi John

Try a solution of liquid latex painted onto the hub.

This available from most hardware stores

Cheers

Default Rubber Rings

Whenever I have worn rubber rings or belting, I always visit the hardware shop that sells "O-rings" . Generally, these are oil resistant and also comes in all shapes and sizes.

hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say that!!!! :-)

I did actually (only for a few seconds mark you - honest!!) contemplate it but think the rubber is too smooth!

I see a market oppurtunity here - audiophile rubbers :-o hahaha!

wearing one while listening to your naim will improve the sound as it damps your own vibrations

Similar effect with my Arcam / Naims, honest.

I'll sell you some audiophile ones, regular type but cryogenically treated for extra stiffness and everything in line ....
