I have a device that has a digital stereo PCM-bus (4 wire), I need to convert it to S/PDIF and back. Has anyone got an idea how i can do this?

The only easy and convenient way I know of is by using the complementary SPDIF transmitter and receiver parts by someone like Cirrus (Crystal Semiconductor). But are you sure you need to do something like this? It's not really a very good interface unless you need to maintain compatibility and need all that additional message information.
