It is not that hard.

There is a pair of NE5532 op amps and output electrolytics and op amp rail decoupling electrolytics.

You will find them

Default My old CD304

I had an old version of CD304.

Here is the defaults of this machine.
The audio output directly by cable (NO RCA) and potentiometer. You must bypass this solution for good sounding.
Careful, the laser diode always ON. You could not stay it ON 24H/24. This reduce laser's diode life.

It was a very nice 14bit CD player.

Default 304 mk2

The mk2 has no pot on rca out, only a fixed output. What the mk2 has instead of a plain cd 304 is a dig out.

I looked in my 304mk2 and it seems the laser starts only when playing. But when you power up with disc, the CD motor spins and keeps turning.

Anyway, mk2 is a nice player and mine is waiting to be modded. Its a feast for the eye to see the heavy metal T-shaped laser-unit from its CDM-1 when bottom panel is removed. Better done then all the plastic stuff of nowadays.
