I have seen different ways in making a Dac with and without external clocks!!
1. Example no clock is used. What settings determine clock speed the dac runs in this schematic?? (Lars Nielsen Dac)
And how do Lars avoid jitter in such a design and get a good sound quality?
2. How can I connect an High quality external clock in this schematic?

The clock embedded in the SPDIF datastream.

He doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. The digital aspect of the design is as simple as is possible with chosen devices.

The setting of the modes aside, you would do the same with the CS8416 as you would with the CS8414. You would put the CS841x in slave mode and derive SCKI, SCLK/BCK and FSYNC/LRCK from your clock module. For more detail, search the forum using the term slave mode.

But CS8416 is a little bit different it has a connection OMCK
And CS8414 has one called FCK. FCK can be clocked with a 6.144Mhz clock -> I think cs8414 uses that leg to determine samplingfrequensies

OMCK is there for systems that do not mute on loss of signal or require clock continuity for some other reason.
And CS8414 has one called FCK. FCK can be clocked with a 6.144Mhz clock -> I think cs8414 uses that leg to determine samplingfrequensies
