One picosecond is the switching speed of the transistors. We all know that silicon can't go that fast. One picosecond is about 100 gigahertz. I read an article in Poptronics that a manufacture used an old material other than silicon that was used in the early days of electronics that can reach up to 70 gigahertzor or more. The material is very fragile so they found a way to make it as durable as silicon.
DACs are slow for any analog work. For consumers, they don't care how fast they are. Audiophile people do care so they have to find the fastest DACs. Jam Tech made an amplifier that can accept any bit rate with out using any DACs or clocking frequency to switch the amplifier off and on. However, getting your hands on their amplifiers is hard. Designing a computer around op-amps will give the audiophile what they want. |

Haldor:
This is what I've been looking for! This is fantastic - with one of these, you could use your own power amps, and the existing digital out from a DVD player, and skip the receiver! However, I may be just using a SB Audigy to do the same thing ...

Are there also such units, which supports additional "DolbyTrueHD" and DTS-HD ? Such units must actually have an audio HDMI extractor function so as at least one HDMI input.
