Connecting a Transport to a TDA 1541 Chip

Hi All,
I am using an Arcam Alpha 5 and taking the analogue output direct from the chip to a valve output stage and the results are stunningnin terms of sound quality.

A friend who ahs a Teac transport wants to know if I could hook up his Teac transport to a TDA1541 chip and then run it through the same output stage.

So, my question is could I take a transport such as a Teac and take the digital signal to an SA7220 receiver chip then onwards to my output stage? Or is this madness?

I aminly wnat to avoid the SPDIF link that any DAC solution would give me.

The '1541 works on I2S, and the Teac doesn't.

Doesn't the 1541A have a TWC mode ? (page 4 of datasheet )

How did you implement the I/V? i am making one now and haven't decidedd yet on the i/v
