I've heard it was the LM7808CT from NS. Don't know about the 5V chip. At least it is a 7805, but don't know about the type/brand.

Thanks, I'm also sure it's a 8v chip. So just a 7808, again nothing exotic...

You mean it is a least 5volts? Could also be a AN8005!?

Nothing exotic. But the LM7808CT from National semiconductor is quite ok, better than others I tried (other LM7808 that is).

The 5V is a similar chip, also TO220. Less important also as the 8V regulator.

I got them from Farnell. (I might have a couple of them left here... contact me by mail if you're interested...)

Before I forget it: I appologize for the typo in the title of this thread. Is it possible to change?

Default Better regulators

A few years ago, "The Audio Amateur" magazines published two articles on regulators.

The main point was based on the assumption that lower impedance was related to better audio quality.

So they measured chip regulators and several discrete circuits. At that time, the merits went to Sulzer's for low current and Bock/Jung for high current.

But it was interesting noting that on encapsulated types, the best were those on the 3X7 family, much superior to any 7XXX type. But there were two fixed-voltage sub-families, related to the 3X7 that measured well: LM340-X and LM320-X types.

Has anyover ever experimented with hardwiring the SDATA against hardwiring FSYNCK and SCK?
Anyone? I think I'm gonna start with hardwiring the FSYNCK AND SCK and use a cable (maybe OTA) for SDATA. Any wisdom here?
