DIR1703 question

Hello everybody!

I have a little question regarding the DIR1703 digital audio receiver.

I am planning on implementing it to my sound processing system, but there is this one little thing i am not sure about. The datasheet says that it only supports I2S mode in 24bit resolution.. does this mean that it wont work correctly with 16bits SPDIF signal? Or it actually will work ok, sending zeros on the last 8 bits?

I need it to work with 16bits because my DSP processor does not support word lengths higher than 16 bits.

Any idea anyone?

One suggestion:

Dont use it.
Its an obsolete part and TI no longer supports it.

Look up AKM semiconductor for a real digital input receiver.

In fact most DIRs on the market support multiple bit modes, in varying formatting.
