Default dvd player video straight to tv or through a/v receiver?

hi,
i have my dvd player "video" outputs (component) going straight to the tv...my question is should i go from dvd player into my reciever (harmon avr 510) & then out to the tv? would i gain anything or would i just degrade the signal by adding an extra step?
thanks in advance,
turok

You should keep everything as is.
