Meridian 508 24 skipps...asking experianced tech

Hello,
I have read the various posts on the net about the 508 20
transport having the wrong grease on the laser slide. This causes
a skipping problem on playback.
The 508 24 apparently has an upgraded transport CDM12.6?.
I have a 508 24 here that skips on playback very intermittently.

I wonder if the grease problem on the rails is causing this skipping problem on the 508 24...or do we look elsewhere

I have a constant problem with my 508 20 skipping. I could send back to Meridian for a service, but wondered if there was an easy remedy I could perform?

Any suggestions?
