Converting Toslink to SPDIF

Hey all... I built a tubedac with a spdif input and recently received an airport express that unfortunately only has a toslink output. I know I can buy one of those external converters for 25 bucks but would rather have a separate input for the toslink. What is involved in doing this conversion?

It involves a TORX-17x type optical receiver (available from Digi-Key) and a few resistors and caps. Which interface receiver does you dac use (CS841x, DIR170x)?

Hey Nisbeth,

It uses a CS 8412 input receiver.

If you can rather fit co ax on the transmitter end, only a few resistors needed andmaybe a cap. Search for Jocko's circuit. It'll sound better than Tos"that"link!!!!

Sounds like a good idea although mod'ing my airport express with a co-ax output might be pretty tough.
