Elso, you wouldn't have a schematic of your AD1865N-K DAC would you? I've got couple of AD1865N-Ks waiting to be used as well as a board for your Kwak-clock. I'm just waiting for the time to build it and a good design to be used...

For Peter Daniel, the link to Zanden:
http://www.zandenaudio.com/english/index.html For Troels, yup, the Zanden 5000 has the TDA1451. But the Zanden 5100 has the PCM1704. Both don't have a digital filter, although the 5100 has an ASRC (CS8420). |

if a sample rate converter is used, there will be oversampling....
therefor its not a NOS-dac, i haven't heard it (nor the 5000) but it probably sounds good!!!!! troels

I'm sure a CS8420 or AD1896 contains far far more digital trickery than a normal oversampling filter such as a DF1706. I doubt you can say that a DAC with a CS8420 is non-oversampling or at least that it would have the so called "benefits" of a true non-oversampling DAC.

The design of the early Wadia dacs suggests you can have oversampling without the digital filter. 4 x PCM1704 per channel would be a bit pricey though.

You might want to start a thread titled PCM2707 to AD1865. A few who could help may well ignore this thread because of the title.
