I would like to build a digital input to a Fusionsynth

This workstation keyboard from Alesis http://www.fusionsynth.com can record audio at 24 bit and 96khz to it´s internal hd.
It has 8 analog inputs. I would like to build a digital input (spdif or AES/EBU), Of course, there is no problbem of loose 2 of the analog inputs.
I need info, about where to find schematics, and where find help to know if can be done with this device, and how. Thanks.

Open the keyboard up, grab a 2-channel oscilloscope or logic analyzer and look for the ADC chips which digitize the 24/96 inputs.

If you're lucky, four pin-configured, 2-channel ADC chips will be feeding four separate I2S, LJ or RJ streams into a DSP or ASIC of some sort. In this case, you'll just have to pull the ADC chip off the board and install a ASRC chip and AES/SPDIF receiver - eg, a CS8416 and a AD1896.

If you're not so lucky, four ADC chips may be chained together in a TDM mode of some sort. Or there may even be a multichannel codec digitizing all inputs...

Again, pop the lid and tell us what you find.

Well, here I have a problem. I don´t have the Fusionsynth. I wanted to know if I could make this change before buying it. So, I would need the schematics, or Alesis tecnicial info.
Do you know how is the best way to get it? I can try to email Alesis support, but I have my doubts if they will give any schematic, or can contact to someone who really knows how is working inside. Any suggestion?

Alesis have replied me, that the schematics will be avaible on July, so I´ll have to wait, then come again to know your opinion about the posibility of doing this job.

If you're anxious, try quoting my above post to them.

One of their engineers could at least give an idea of wether it's possible or not, by describing how the ADC chips are hooked up...
