Default Ultlimate Ver.2 Twins TDA1541a Non-oversampling DAC Funish products..................

Dear all,

I was not a good sales. But I was a crazy diyers & hope can produce some reasonable & good diy parts to diyers.

Last year I was product ver.1 twins TDA1541a non-oversampling kit & collected good feedback & advise. But in the same time I also collect some of the diyers feedback that not easy to funish this complicate kit & easy to cause the Fault soldering point.
Actually the kit was quite complicated & the copper plate signal path is thick & large copper ground plate will easy to spread the heat from the heater & cause Fault soldering point. So I suggest to use the Weller or Goot's electronic control heater to solder this kit.

Some of the diyers in this forum gave me very very useful improvement for the kit & push me to produce for this coming product. I funish this sample for over 2 months & continous improvement.

Hope this coming ver.2 U will love it.

P.S. every ver2 will come with 3 PCB, higher standard than ver.2. made in Taiwan. The twins TDA1541a & OPA-2604 PCB will all funish with OC pass in taiwan. Lase OC pass Label for versify.
The tube PCB need U funish by yourself. It will cost U three hours. can fit different voltage rectifier tubes...........

Every kit will free with one same quality small PCB with CS8414 to 8412 Adapter, 4 Single op-amp ( OP627 & 637) change to Opa2604 &..................... two clock PCB. one is 74HC4040 & 74HC74. All this is free to U.

Dear all,

I would like to say the improvement parts of Ver.2 DAC use.

TDA1541a PCB:
--------------------

1. Digital input cable from RCA to PCB.

Gotham Professional digital cable (1 feet).
GAC-1 S/PDIF-Pro (10070) Silvercable.

2. use Pulse transfromer to input.

Pulse engineer PE-65612.

3. All TDA1541a Decoulping caps was ERO MKP1813 0.1uf 250V.
Use ERO MKP1813 0.1uf had faster refresh rate. It can
increase the detail of the 1541a chips. But........ every kit I will
follow with 28 pcs MKT 0.22 caps made in Holland which
standard use in the Marantz CD94 use for 1541a decoupling
caps. If U like them Not need to pay more money. U will get
them because this is free with the kit. ( actually its funish &
test, QC pass alrerady).

4. All 28 pcs of ERO will use Aluminium foil to shield for them, The
ground point was in the middle of the PCB which had same
distance for two chips. Ground or unGround. U decision
only!!!!!!

5. Every TDA1541a will use Copper foil to shield for them, U can
choose ground or un-ground.

6. The regulate IC. Standard for the funished kit was LT-1033 &
1085 for 1541a to supply a high speed & low internal
resistance power supply to increase the HF & detail. certainly
lower the noise too.

7. In this I would like to say very thanks for diyers in this forum
because they advise me to use this diode. excellent in this
area.
Rectifier diode for standard funish kit was Vishay telefunken
BYV-27-150 ( Ultra fast soft receovery diode). Most diyer like
the rectifier diode very fast but will get more noise same time.
This BYV is much better than UF, MUR & MBR series.

8. The ground plate area hadn't decrease. But the small
blank area between the signal path & ground plate was
increase a little to prevent the capacitiance to pollute the
data steam. The small un-ground area ( copper plate ) on the
PCB was removed already to prevent the -RF- etc in the air to
effect the data steam because the un-ground copper plate
was same as ---Antenna-- will absorb the RF in the air.

9. Ver.1 most use dale 1% in the 1541a PCB but ver.2 I
suggested use low ppm resistors. same was 1% KOA series.
Now only the top model Precision series was made in japan.
The middle grade was I choose low ppm series was made in
China. So I can get them in reasonable price & use in the
Ultimate DAC.

10. Power supply. Ver.1 I use one R-core power transformer to
supply both 1541a & Op-amp PCB. Now I seperate for them.
Every PCB, ( 1541a & Op-amp) will seperate use one C-core
power trans for them, individual regulate IC( LT-1033 & 1085).
Seperate BYV27-150.
(It means every funish will follow with 3 pcs of C-core power
transformers) Pls see the photos, U will interest why the sec
winding had 0~4~5 & 0~6.3. This is special for Diyer because
they can do it by yourself for the tube buffer PCB which
change 4V (RGN1064, AZ1, AZ11 mesh plate) etc, 5V ( 5V4,
5Z3) & standard follow with kit is 6X4 & added USD 10 for
one NOS Miniwatt Dario EZ80.

11. Signal output cable.
Standard analog output cable is Belden telfon silver coated
cable to increase the HF of the signal because some people
said the non-oversampling DAC had small lack of HF. But
don't worry. I will can supply the Japn ATM KA OFC Mic cable
with funish kits. 2 feets which will not charge any more
money.

Hi all,

Today morning I collect the EMS parcel from Taiwan for the factory funish sample of the 1541a PCB with parts & Op-amp PCB with parts too. All were pass the QC test. After I detail to check & running for 48 hrs. If no mistake occur. It will pass into mass production period.

Pls take a look for the Factory Funish OP-AMP PCB with parts.

More photos for different area of this two PCB I upload to the Yahoo Photo Book already.

Pls free to check & advise.

Con't the detail of the 1541a PCB Improvement.

12. The 1541a chips all with come with copper foil. U can choose Ground or un-ground.

13. The small caps ver.I was choose philips parts. But after test I choose Matsushita Metal PETP Film capacitor. I tested this cap increase little HF of the non-oversampling DAC.

14. In my DAC, 1541a Had two SMD 0805 470p caps. Pls play attention for this two small caps. Better grade & more accurate will effect the sound stage. I choose 'TDK' 'J' grade with higher accurancy than standard SMD caps. The another reason is the 'J' Grade had better heat resistance during soldering. More stability !!!!!!


This is all the imporvment points in the 1541a PCB.

Detail of the parts per sets.

The DAC total will contain 4 PCBs, ( Two will factory funish already)

Funish PCB will 1541a & the op-amp PCB with all parts.

pLS See the att. photos.


The date for the funish kit to market will on 2005-04-22.

The kit will not contain the chassis because every set of the DAC need two chassis. I ask for the factory that two aluminium chassis as the size 300 X 100 X 200mm whch the output look was same as the audionote DAC-1.Colour will ultra shiny smooth sandy silver for body colour & same quality facelet but black in colour. But the price is too expensive. I think this is reasonable for diyer. so I will pend for this.

All parts contain per one set of funish kit.

1.TDA1541a Ver.II Dac fully test with QC pass & factory funish.

2.OPA-2604 Op-amp fully test with QC pass & factory funish.

3.Blank ver.II tube buffer PCB with all parts. The 6X4 Used but test tube will follow with the kit. If u like to change the 6x4 to NOS Miniwatt dario EZ80 pls added USD 10 more is OK.( this is a really unused tubes.)

All tube sockets was japan style with silver plated. Output caps was EC MKP caps from USA. Cathode caps for tubes was Purism bi-polar 16V 100uf. Unless U use battery bias, otherwise will not better than this.

4.The milti-converter PCB will follow with the kit. Free to diyer because it cobatin two re-clock 74HC74 & 74HC4040.( But no parts follow)

5.input cable from RCA to PE-65612 pulse input trans will
Gotham audio cable 10070 silver professional digital cable.

6.Output cable was either Belden telfon silver plated signal cable or Japan AKM mic cable.

7.Three copper shield c-core power transformers.

8.If U like to buy the used Amperex 6Dj8 BB Holland or 6922 gold pins.
USD 30 per pair BB holland, USD 50 6922 gold pins. All were used but fully test under my Hickok 539C Tube Tester. Can match transconductance & plate current same time.

9. Postage will include. Use EMS to USA.
2~5 days will arrived & can tracking any time.

10. The 1541a & 2604 PCB Funish will had 6 months gurantee. If post back to HK I will only charge postage, no member charge, no handling charge, no parts charge. pls keep the confirmation receipt for purchasing. Btw, If damage was cause by yourself after change parts. I will charge the parts to U or charge one PCB only.

Dear all,

the single multi-converter PCB contain Two re-clock circuit, four single op-amp to dual op-amp PCB that U can use OPA627,637 to 2604 op-amp output stage.

CS8414 & 8412 adapter.

My kit had CS-8412 version for U to choose but will USD 10 more than the 8414 version because 8412 is much expensive.

I note a lot "this will be USD 10 extra, which is nice to know. But somewhere in all this I falied to find the price for the basic kit.

Do you have a pricelist somewhere which lists the main kit price and the options?

Also, do I get this right, the TDA1541 PCB is already completely stuffed, soldered etc and thus more or less "ready to go"? If so this might interrest me, as I want a TDA1541 DAC back, but do not have the time for a while to come to complete my own set of PCB's...

The DAC will funish & test from factory.
Total 4 pcs of New colour, Plasma Spark shine Blue colour.
Two was Blank.
1. Twin TDA1541a PCB fully funish & test already.
a. Parts- Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-27-150
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)
b All REGULATOR ICs LT1033 & 1057.
c 1541a Decoupling caps was ERO MKP1813.
d Extra 28 pcs 1541a decoupling caps Philips Holland MKT will follow with kit ( use in the Marantz CD94 types).
e All the caps was Sanyo OS-CON,Elna, Nichicon Fine, Gold , Muse,Purism Non-polar caps.
f. All the small watts resistors was KOA Low ppm resistors.
g. Large watts was NOS Western electric, Dale, CGW & telefunken
h.Had CS-8412 version or 8414 version to choose.
CS8412 will USD 10 more for the kit.
I. All fit with gold plated IC Sockets.

2. Op-amp output stage PCB.
a. Parts- Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-27-150
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)

h. One pair BB Op2604 with gold plated IC sockets.

3. Tube Buffer PCB will Bank & need U cost three hours to diy for it.
a Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-27-150
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)
b All REGULATOR ICs LT1033 & 1057 for tube filament.
c can use Battery bias & space for Smooth choke.
e All the caps was Elna, Nichicon Fine, Gold , Muse,Purism Non-polar caps. Especially the purism Non-polar caps for tube cathode. Unless U use the Battery, otherwise will not better than use this caps.
f. Output Caps was USA EC MKP Caps. 600V 0.47 uf.
g. Large watts was NOS Western electric, Dale, CGW & telefunken
h.All tube Sockets was Japan style silver Plated ceremic tube sockets.

4. Blank Multi -adapter PCB,

Two Bank Re-clock PCB. One is 74HC74 & 74HC4040. Two 8414 to 8412 adapter & 4 single op-amp to dual op-amp. Diyers can personal buy Op-2134,627,627 for the op-amp output stage. Directly Plug & Play is OK.

5. Three 3 pcs of C-core power transformers
Pls see the photos, U will interest why the sec
winding had 0~4~5 & 0~6.3. This is special for Diyer because
they can do it by yourself for the tube buffer PCB which
change 4V (RGN1064, AZ1, AZ11 mesh plate) etc, 5V ( 5V4,
5Z3) & standard follow with kit is 6X4.

NOS Miniwatt Dario EZ80 will follow with the kit.

Senju Lead free & Ag-Cu-Sn solder will follow with kit for diyer. I trust that solder will effect the performace & for diyer solder Gotham silver digital cable & signal cable.

Today I collect the sample of the full aluminum Chassis ( Mould ) funish as audionote DAC-zero. It means the body will funish by two 'U' shape aluminium. Then Up & down to funish a chassis. The facelet is 1 cm thick. The size is 175X75X300mm. I prepare every kit will contain two chassis. One is for Twins 1541a PCB, two c-core power trans & the op-amp output stage. Another is for one c0core power trans & tube Buffer PCB, may be U will ask why the tube Buffer need this size chassis. I prepare Diyers had enough space for Battery Bias ( battery PacK) & choke for the rectifier use. The factory offer to me is one set( Two piece is USD45 for two ) added the IEC socket, fuse socket, RCA 2 pair per one chassis,printing ther word on the surface of the chassis & switch. Total will USD 52 per set with postage on my hand.

I will seperate to re-sell in USD 60 per st for diyers which seperate with the kit.
