Did you misplace the decimal point in that crystal frequency?

It should be 11.2896MHz, not GHz |

Crystals are not specified by "phase noise". Crystal Q plays a part in it. As does circuit design and the rest of the parts.

The best source is an old Philips CDP. I sent some of their crystals out to a manufacturer once. They spec'ed the Q at around 150K. They were willing to sell me some of theirs..........Q of 175K or so............for molto $$$$ if I was willing to buy a boatload of them.
It is possible to make something close to Guido's if you have the expertise, including a low-noise supply, with an old Philips crystal. I can, but then I have the background in that stuff. ECL is one way to go. Just rip a crystal out of an old CDP...........it will more than adequate to get started. (The main problem with those CDPs is the lousy circuit...........stuck inside of the filter chip, not the crystal.) Jocko |

What does ECL mean?
