Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list

Hi Ian.

I don't think that simply swapping those resistors for caps and then swapping back would be the cause of the player not reading discs. I reckon you've probs done something else too.

If you wiggle the ribbon cable to the mech, does this have any effect? They are pesky little things.

Also, what do you mean by:"I did the drivers, servo....."? Sounds like something I'd say, lol.

Check the voltages on R149, 150, 127, 128, 164 & 165. Those are the +/-12v ish to the driver chips. Half of em should read 10-12v the other half -10 to -12v.

Don't know if you know how to do that so, connect black wire of meter to gnd (one of the solder blobs on top of the board is perfect for that) and use the red probe to measure the voltage points. you need to select dc voltage on the meter.

Needless to say, there'll be people more qualified to help than me online tomorrow:)

Cheers, Lee.

Thanks Lee

This is what i did...
swapped c504 to za removed 503
swapped c509/512 to za removed 510/511 removed r511 -jumper
swapped c120/121 to silmics c124 to za removed 122
checked everything played just fine

removed RD21-28 fitted caps , repositioned caps 15/16 as no longer sitting over resistors checked 1 dead player!

I have err 10 code, radial error??
checked R149 -12.45 R128 -13.06 R165 -13.06
R150 13.09 R127 12.39 R164 12.41

I have tried wiggling ribbon connections and plugs, rekon i'm about to learn more about the player as i really wanna fix it this time lol

I just helped Steve upgrade his CD63/7 hybrid now that he fixed it with the laser/mech from one and the main PCB from another.

He had already put the big FCs on the +-20V rails.

I did this just now:

* ZAs after 12V regs
* FC before 5V reg
* FC after 5V reg
* Silmics on servo
* Silmics on decoder
* ZAs on DAC
* some ZA on driver ICs
* HA "tin hat" op-amps
* HDAM/DC blocking/muting bypass
* op-amp fuse resistor shorting
* 10V fuse bypasses

We left the op-amps to run on the original Cerafines. I'm quite pleased with the results though I say so myself.

I've told Steve he just needs some regulators and two clocks and it's done :D
