I did the NAIM NAC 32-5 pre amp mod the other week using the mods list on there.

Changed the V caps for Os con SP , and all feedback and signal caps from tiny tants to Evox Rifa SMR. The 47uF 63V was huge.

The sound was very detailed and open indeed.

P.S The customers KI is fed via a modded SNAPs PSU

I believe the I2S feed goes through RD11 (DATA), RD12 (SCLK), RD13 (WCLK) on the 63.

R501,2,3 on the CD67 I think but you'd need to trace from pins 45,46 and 48 on the SAA7372 to be sure.

Incidentally, I've also read about lifting these 3 resistors and feeding through a TDA1543 to make the marantz nonoversampling. It's something I might try if I can get hold of a TDA1543 cheaply (evidently stacking 8-10 of them gives a very good result).

You/d have to be careful when using the Marantx as a transport not to disconnect anything (like clock disconnects between clock and chip) which give focus errors or similar and stop the machine functioning.

Regards

Pete
Wow I hope it is really that simple You bring up a good point about getting the errors if the transport is disconnected. Im also wondering if I can maybe get an I2S signal from from Creative Xfi soundcard, then i wouldnt even have to buy that usb->i2s converter. I think I read someplace about a guy who modded his soundcard to get an i2s signal, but i dont remeber where. Im going to have to do a little more research. If anyone else has any other ideas or would like to help feel free to email me at Fsatsil@optonline.net

thanks

What I meant was that the DAC receives a i2s signal from the decoder chip?
