I just received my new cd53 that i bought on ebay for $30 and its working great. So now the real fun begins. I am starting friom scracth with this player and im making a parts list so i can place orders. Im planning on using Oscons for all the smaller caps in the digital sections and Silmics for the analogue stage. But for the larger main power supply caps im not really sure which caps to use, Panny FC, Rubycon ZA, Blackgate, Silmic, Stargets....etc Whats everyones opinions.
thanks
Frank

Well for me Black gates everytime, but they are alot more expensive.
I use pana FC in other players I mod with a plastic cap across the underside. This works a treat

Where do I buy a new CDM12.1 at cheapest ?

Grandata,

http://www.grandata.co.uk/acatalog/G...UMBER_676.html

has it at £16 + £5PP but do I find it cheaper elsewhere?

Some total i.... has tried in the past to fix my "new" CD53 and has ruined the ribbon leading to the laser hence focus error now.

Anyone of you guys have a working spare you could - ehhh - spare

I ordered a laser from Grandata and it was used. So i sent it back!!

Can you not run some thin wire to the points were the cable connects. It should be easy enough.

Also try these

Can anyone tell me if besides the resistors in the output filter, are there any others that are in the analogue signal path that may benefit from a better quality resistor?? There looks like thier might be a few right before the rca jacks r657-66, r651,r652, rn15-18 are the ones im talking about.

You will be bypassing these resistors. They are for the muting circuit.

Thanks Rowemeister!! So the only resistors in the signal path are these??

R601...604
R607/608
R609/610
R605/606/611/612
RD21...28

I will be using Dale cmf55 .1% resistors in these spots since i already have them on hand. But im thinking if they are in the signal path maybe a better resistor is a good idea?? Maybe even going high end with Vishay s102, expensive though!! Maybe I could get some free samples. Most companies are pretty cool about small quanities of samples.

On to more important things. My opamps and adapters arrived today. Im using a combo of opa134 and opa627 both are "dip" style and im using browndog adapter. This is the first mod ill be doing to the new cd53 i picked up the other day. Now a few questions.

Ive read that I should put a small cap across the power pins from + to -?? Do I do this on each individual opamp or just on the adapter. Also should i put a cap from + to ground and - to ground?? What kind of caps would I want to use here?? I have some 33uf Oscons, would they work well or do I need a smaller film type?? I cant wait to get these babys installed, im hoping for a nice upgrade going from the stock opamps to a opa627!

Thanks
