Hi Brent,

I got the second one Lee kindly sent me as the first is somewhere but home, and this one is not even making the disc motor running.
And I can't reach Ian who kindly offer to send me one, that's too sad :'(

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu, I am glad that arrived ages ago!

edit: I expect the fault is elsewhere, because I'm pretty sure that chip was fine. Sorry to hear you've had no joy.

Lee.

I did another couple of mods this weekend: Silvered Mica caps on the servo and the HF Amp. I also swapped the 470uF Oscon SEPC on dac analog to 1000uF BG FK.

I got better, cleaner treble and a touch more separation and bass.

Cheers, Lee.

Thanks Lee & Brent,
tray moves, mech moves up & down, radial is also OK, only the disc does not spin. Maybe too much damages around there, but I've check pins and target continuity and it's OK so I don't see any onther problem, I'll have another look later.

Hi Matthieu, sorry i've been illusive lately!

I do have a decoder chip that I can dig out. When I swapped mine, I found the problem was elsewhere. Check the whole signal path from the laser to the decoder using the service manual. My problem was in the HF amp area. The decoder chip will need the signal from the laser to spin the motor. Do you hear your laser focussing? Mine gave me very similar problems to you but it wasn't the decoder. I think there is a good chance that if Lee's decoder hasn't fixed the problem, mine won't either! I think you might need an oscilliscope to diagnose this problem! I think to be honest, i'd be on the look out for another player ready to start transplanting all the mods!
