Hi
I’ve just recently changed a laser for the first time on my CD 67 using this glide took me about 30 minutes http://iangclark.net/projects/CD63/CD63.html Important steps to remember take care on build up of static will damage the laser Check that the ribbon cables is full home the ribbon cable on the laser is deceiving it will go in further than you think you will know if this ribbon isn’t in fully as the disc will spin back in forth or anticlockwise Hope this helps

Usually adjusting this variable resistor will kill the laser or allow it to work but it will have a short life.

I personally dont think removing the muting transistors makes much difference, it's just another tweak
