How do I modify LM6172 opamp chip to work in placement of op275. I think LM6172 is 15V where op275 is only 12V.
Also, is there anyway that I can modify OPA627 to replace op275 - i think the pin is different so this maybe more tricky. Thanks in advance. |

According to this the LM6172 really shines at lower voltage levels compared to many other op-amps, especially the OP275. This test was made with headphone use in mind, but I wouldn't think the proportions change much in other applications. |

Thanks Breez. Looks like it would require lot of works to make it work.

Yup. Fast bipolar opamps are a pain-in-the... to get working without oscillating or having DC-offset. If you follow the head-fi forums, the 6171/6172 are very higly thought-of chips, even with big electrolytics in the signal path.
I believe the White Noise Audio headphone amp uses the 6171. Anyhow, I'm pretty happy with my Burrbrown FET-input Op-amps. I may experiment with the 6171/72 later on (I have a ton laying around) when I have time to invest on making them work correctly. |

The LM6172 is highly rated on a couple of sites for modding Marantz cd players, as the i/v stage. This is because the LM6172 is symmetrical for + & - . An alternate chip may be AD844, also symmetrical. ( Use with adapter ). This does not seem to have any comments about oscillating etc. so may be easier to use?
Anyone know a good source for LM6172 chips. ? They seem unobtainable in the UK. Andy |

RS Components definitely carry them. Farnell and Rapid maybe. |
