Default Sumo HiFi Equipment

Since 1994, my HiFi set-up consists of, a.o., Sumo Artemis pre–amplifier, two times Sumo The Ten power amplifiers, the Axiom compact disc transport and the Theorem DAC. Everything still works to great satisfaction, but I am now thinking of upgrading the DAC by replacing it with the Benchmark DAC-1. Any comments? I have a burning question: does anyone know which CDM sits in the Axiom? I suspect it is a Philips one, maybe the CDM-4. Anyone looked inside? The sparse documentation does not say..., Jan

Hi Jan

I have an almost identical system-only difference is i have two The Five amps. This is the first time i have found someone with a similar system after searching for a couple of years.

To answer to your question(which i can't!) have you tried contacting Audusa which look after the Sumo brand and have serviced my amps and DAC.

With regard to the Benchmark DAC,there are a few threads on the Pink Fish Media forum which may be helpful.
Best wishes,IanSampson

Switch the player on and press eject. If the hole in the tray is curved, its a philips swingarm. If it is a square hole it can be anything.

If it is a philips swingarm, i guess it is cdm4 or 9, looking at the age. If you wanna know for shure, you need a screwdriver

There are plenty of pics here to compare.

Default Vaguely remember a review

It uses either a CDM9 or later, it is definately not a CDM4 or earlier type but definately a Philips. If the tray has an additional little slide out plate with the compact disc digital audio logo on it, is a 9, otherwise a 12.xxx
