How about an off the shelf chip solution: TAS3002?
I have almost finished a digital filter design using the TAS3002. This chip from TI looks very promising

TI also supplies some design software to equalise speaker response curves which I can't wait to play with.
Has anyone else used this chip? And what are your thoughts on it's capabilities?
