Default CD PRO2 hub design

I have recently purchased the CD pro kit. I do not like the hub design, along with the need to use the magnetic clamp.

Is is possible to change the hub to a spring loaded one, similar to the ones used on some laptop computer CD drives? I do not see any simple way to do it, and I do not want to risk performing surgery on the unit.
