I want to try to fix a Rotel 855 for a good friend.
I replaced the clamp on it once ten years ago and
he thinks I can fix CD players, which is not true, but
I wouldn't mind learning more about CD players!
It is a very nice sounding player with a very respectable
power supply and nice layout. Anyway, it intermittently
stops in the middle of a 'track' as if the CD was
finished playing. There seems to be no pattern
to this and it does not happen every time.
I also I hear occasional digital clicks.
I cleaned the lens, but that didn't help. Would it
make sense to replace the laser assembly?
Thank you,
Michael

All the Best.

I did and a while back got some info on how
to fix and upgrade the clamp, but I didn't see
anything on this specific problem. This is not a
case of skipping.
Thank you 'air' and I sent an email.
