Exclamation Please Help!!!

I have had a marantz reciever SR7000 for about three years. Lately I have noticed some problems with the digital audio, when playing DVDs! The sound keeps cutting out and then comming in again. I have checked the cables and they seem to be fine! I have tried optical cables and coax still I have the same problem! Is my reciever fried? I have used both hitachi and samsung DVD players and both have created the same problmes. I have even changed the audio settings from PCM to Bitstream and still have the same problem.

Please tell me whats wrong and how should I go about fixing it!

Zak

I would check for dry joints at the connectors. The strain on the connectors often causes the solder joints to fracture - usually invisible to the eye. You could try wiggling things while music is playing to see if it causes the sound to cut out and back in again. Sometimes connectors can go faulty.

Since you have trouble with both optical and coax it will be something common to both. Is it the same with all discs?

Hope this helps.
