SACD and DVD-A Digital Output

Many universal players have digital outputs for SACD and DVD-A but need suitably equipped AV amps to use it. Stereo Hi-fi users have to make do with analogue connections. May be one of these days someone will write some code that can be burnt into an EPROM for use in an external DAC!

Or is there a way around this problem?
 
What you are suggesting is not possible in software only. But there are already mod chips available. The first hit on Google sacd modchip revealed:

decoded DTS and AC3 signal from your DVD-Video -> no more surround decoder necessary
