Default Digital output for Studer A725

Anyone knows how to make a digital output (S/PDIF, AES/EBU) to the Studer A725 (or Revox B225)?

It's using the early Philips chipset SAA7010, SAA7020, SAA7000, SAA7030, TDA1540.

It is a fairly major task to add a SPDIF transmitter to the SAA70x0 chipsets. The feed to the SAA7030 from the SAA7000 is simultaneous and in offset binary format and as such it is easier to connect the TDA1541.To connect an SPDIF transmitter would require merging the left and right datastreams into a single serial datastream and conversion to two's complement. This would require a few TTL packages or a small CPLD.

I have the same problem: a Philips CD-304...

Would you concider selling a board that would do the job?

I wouldn't have thought there was much of a market for such a device. The old TDA1540 based dac are a dying breed and I can't see hordes of audiophiles roaming the countryside hunting down CD104's. Still, it would be an interesting diversion, even if only to see how these old machines fare as transports.

Default You guessed it

It would also be for the CD-104...

Too much effort, buying a cdm4 based machine is easy these days for little money. I2S included to connect to spdif transmitter.

And cdm4 performs better than cdm0/1 i've been told. cdm3 somewhere inbetween. Talking about reading the data on the disk, not reliablity or looks

Wanna trade, cd-x for anything nice (104 met een ander jasje).

Ray,

thanx for calling me young

As for the dig out, easy: connect an ADC to the DAC(s) and an spdif transmitter.
