Hi,
what about paralleling lots of chips after I/V stage ? Wouldn`t that reduce distortion of the I/V conversion too ? PCM56 got small footprint, voltage output, is single channel ( can be selected for minimum distortion ) and has provision for bipolar zero adjustment. A minimum of 50 pieces would nicely fit on a double size euro pcb. 50 chips per channel, each individually adjusted for minimum distortion, voltage outputs connected together via 1 k resistors. |

Actually paralleling after the da is counter productive. Design the circuit well and the distortion will be quite low.

Why ? 4 options: Separate DAC chip I-outs with separate I/Vs. Separate DAC chip I-outs with a common I/V. Common DAC chip I-outs with paralleled I/Vs. Common DAC chip I-outs with a common I/V. |

Here's an idea:
If I parallell a lot (and I mean A LOT) of current-output dac's, I could drive the speakers directly! This would be a direct digital implementation of a Pass' FirstWatt amp. W00t!
