I'm a novice at home AV, so be gentle with me. I hooked up my Sony Dvd player to my Sony STR-DE545 receiver using the optical cable. (Also tried the coax digital connection). Yet when I play any DVD with Dolby Digital encoding and/or DTS encoding the receiver shows only PRO LOGIC, --cannot get it to indicate Dolby Digital or DTS. Any suggestions/help.
Thanks |

You did select DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1 on the DVD, right? Occasionally a DVD will default to the 2 channel Dolby (Prologic) Surround track.
And is the DVD player configured to put out Dolby Digital or DTS? (some players have a setting to only output PCM (uncompressed digital audio like from a normal CD player)) |
