Good news- I FINALLY got a working pair of replacement OP627's & finally have the parts to finish tweaking my dream system

Thanks also to Brannon, who not only sent me two OPA627BP's(to replace two damaged OPA627AP's), but also threw in some NE5532AP's for me to compare!! You're all right, man!

On another thread I will soon be reporting on three different DVD2900 Mods and doing listening comparisons between them...Stay tuned

All the discussion about the clock IC leaves me confused on 1 point: why not have a dedicated clock for the primary audio frequency inserted _after_ the clock IC? What am I missing?

Since the price of used Denon DVD2900's has come down recently(no doubt due to some owners upgrading to Blue-Ray, etc.), now is a good time to snap one up and mod it!

Just saw a couple Denon DVD2900's on eBay for about $100-

How can you do this? You are taking caps with values of 220 microfarads and replacing them with caps that have only 6.6 microfarads. I am baffled by this. Such a large change. Won't this cause some kind of massive goof-up at some point? How do you know that this is safe?

What??? If your preamp has coupling caps on the inputs, that's fine, but what if your preamp's volume knob comes before those coupling caps? Won't this instantly fry your preamp's volume control?

I am trying to information on modding my Denon DVD-2900. I cannot find any instructions and part lists to do this. Can you please share info or tell me a link which lead me to do this.

Tonight, I finished my PS upgrades by removing the .1uf/250V and .22uf/250V x-rated safety caps and replacing them both with .47uf/600V Auricaps (ala "auricap tweak").

On the audio board, I replaced the AD8620 I had placed in IC216 with an AD8066 to match the AD8066's in the output path.

I also replaced the stock output path resistors R312, 313, 314, 315, 318, and 319 with Riken Ohms.

In addition to my "Dutch Mod," these last few items have dramatically improved the sound. More detail, tighter bass, more air around notes, and the blackness is just beautiful. Surprisingly, the redbook playback (the 2900 weakness IMHO) has really improved.
