Not sure that this is the correct forum to post in,
but it ain't exactly good for Louspeakers either :p

So do you guys know about any software/drivers/plugins
combo that would run in windows, and would alllow us to modify
digital sound before it's output on the DAC of the pc cards?

My point would be to use my existing Waveterminal sound card
and use a software to run the crossovers + filters and other adjustments ( phase and room corrections )

is there anything out there?

this would be to replace expensive pro hardware

This method is very inexpensive and easy to use, but you will need to buy an Audigy soundcard for ~$45.00 With some experience you can set up a new crossover in minutes, get it close enough to listen to, and then listen and tweak. The audio processing runs independent of the computer cpu - I do heavy-duty 3d cad modelling while music plays through a stereo 3-way crossover in the dsp on the soundcard, just need a player running on the pc.

Hello,

You can use foobar player (http://foobar2000.org) with the divider plugin (http://www.aedio.co.jp/download/index.html) for FIR high slope crossovers.

The included convolver plugin allows you to run room correction filters. Google for DRC for details. And you may run also the resampler plugin that solve some issues with soundblaster cards that resamples internally to 48k.

With the kx drivers you may run IIR crossovers instead, or make a per driver ecualization added to the FIR crossoner in foobar, as I'm currently testing.

If you want to try this be sure to setup Direct Sound as output mode in foobar. The combination is a little tricky, so ask if you have problems.

Good luck,

Roberto
