AL3201 - Reverberation

Well, men. I decided to make a device, that will realise a reverberation effects, such as hall or room.
Possible solutions are - usual DSP with ADC and DAC and some program (aparently, written by my own), or special ADSP that already realizes these effects, such as AL3201 developed by Alesis. I decided to follow second way.
It's quite strange - I hoped to find at least several chips that realises effects of reverberation, but i've found just AL3201.
So, has anybody used micros with direct reverb realization, what types, what impressions, and may be, how to buy it?

Check digital reverb or delay

I am working just on this, a digital non-DSP based solution. In fact I am thinking in a digital delay building block that could be used for example for time alignment of drivers etc. The target design includes variable delay and 16 bit resolution.
