Hi all
I'm new to the forum and have to admit to registering for a specific reason. I've got a Marantz CD72SE which I've had now for nigh on 12 years and it's given great service. Trouble is, the laser has started giving up the ghost and I need to replace the transport. I've taken advice from various HiFi dealers and all agree that to find a CD player that will match the performance of the CD72SE I would have to spend around the same as this player cost 12 years ago ie. c.£500. Does anyone out there know where I can obtain a transport for this player ? I've tried Marantz UK and they say that they keep parts available for 7 years, so although I've lodged a request with their supplier, I'm not confident that they'll come through. Thanks in advance for any information Steve |

Hi Steve
Try this link to Grandata: http://www.grandata.co.uk/acatalog/G...RANTZ_118.html Maybe some electrolytic capacitor replacements could be worthwhile before or at the same time as the CDM replacement. Your 12 year old caps will be on their last legs at this stage and might be partly to blame for the CDM problem. Look at this thread too: Extending Philips CDM4 Life??

Thanks very much for the reply. I'll check out the Grandata place. I note it lists the CD72 rather than SE version, but I assume (hope) this may not be a problem and the pick up will do the job. Thanks for the help. Steve |

Hi, I have Marantz CD72 in champagne fully working, and Marantz CD72SE in black also fully working. If you still need spare parts. I believe they both use the same transport mechanism.

Hi there, thanks for the offer but I tracked down a new replacement part and had that fitted. Player is good as new now.
Cheers Steve |
