Hello. Wondering what the architecture inside a DSD DAC would be like. Unless I am serious misunderstanding the nature of a DSD data stream, which is possible, no DAC is necessary, just a low pass filter. I thought DSD was basically like PWM, isn't it?

It is very interesting to read about the DSD decoder chip that would be with the transport circuitry. But it doesn't answer my question about the DAC. It looks like the DAC would be where that documents shows the "waveform shaping and low pass filter". What is waveform shaping anyways?
