I am considering the following topology for the ps:
trafo - discrete diode bridge- C-L-12V reg - C-L - 5V reg - C-L- Load Is there a benefit to running two regulators in series? The second regulator would be mouted close to the load, and the first in an outboard ps. The intent (of course) is to obtain the cleanest possible 5 VDC for the digital section. Any comments would be appreciated! Regards, Gilid |

The power supply will be more cleaner with 0.1uF//10uF capacitor connecting close to the IC power pins and with good pcb ground layout. You can check this hooking up an osc-scope at the power pin with the circuit operating.
