Is there anybody who using a DVDROM and a DAC as drive for
Audio CD using SPDIF in there high end audio set, (no computer involved)?
Is someone so pleased with that construction that he thinks it
sounds as good as a ordinary high end audio set?

Interesting to hear ;) if someone do that.

DVD drive would function the same as a normal cd drive. Accousticly I dout you would gain anything over a normal CD drive.
CD drives have been used... DVD maybe (someone might have wanted a slot loading drive.
Search around some of the other thread and you should find everything you wanted to know :D

The one aspect of DIY using a xxx-ROM drive as compared to a high end CDP that is a weakness and there is no easy way to address is the lack of beefiness of the mechanicals (please don't take this is a slam of DIY using CD-ROM). Look for the beefiest, solid feeling drive you can find as a starting point.
