Electrons are yellow and more is better!

There was a discussion about voltage references here. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showt...3291#post33291
OK, guys, I think the easiest way to get rid of noise is to use a LP-filter. The disadvantage of LED's are the large distribution of V/I properties. It's OK when you build one part. It's OK though if the value is non-critical. I use a red LED in my monster amps, works well. I must recommend the cheap LM431! Excellent as a shunt regulator. It's easy to incorprate it in feedback with NPN transistor in order to handle large currents. I think the noise discussion is rather important if the zener itself doesn't interfer with it's noise. If it's OK to put an filter between the zener and the rest, I think it's the best solution.
