Are both outputs coming from the same place? I havent got the service manual for this one, but on dvd-ns905, the front out comes from a different dac. Btw, have you measured dc offset before the output capacitors ? If you dont have any dc offset, maybe it´s worth a try to play without capacitors. On my dvd-963sa, this made a big difference (although I got som dc offset )

Yes they do have separate and different DAC chips but the sound is very similar in my player.

I've measured DV offset (3.8 mV if I remember correctly). I use a passive preamp and a power amp which doesn't have DC blocking >> I cannot remoce the caps.

You upgraded pulse power supply capacitor (400V) with Blackgate? This is a good tweak.
