I'd just like to add that answering member's questions is certainly OK too.

just ignore the tube DACs - get one with neither tubes nor opamps in the signal path:

http://www.dddac.de

Doede's DDDAC1543 is a pretty amazing design and can be put together for about $250-$350 depending on parts choice and how fancy you want the case to be.

Well now that you've deleted the preceeding postings planet10, why not contextualise everything by deleting my latest as well.

I suspected it would take more courage than you possess to let this festering boil simply rupture in public as it should.

Hope you're proud of your little "del" button.

Please do not post abbrasive and insulting remarks in this thread. I created it to ask for advice, not read up on your personal vendettas. To whichever moderator deleted that sequence of posts: thank you.

The Scott-Nixon DAC looks interesting, but I think some of the other designs look more interesting.

I don't really like the idea behind the DDDAC. Creating a tower out of TDA1543 DACs doesn't seem like the way to get the best sound quality out of a DAC.

I like the look of the Guido Tent DAC. He seems to have a very nice design.

I'm really hoping to get a top-bracket DAC out of this project. I want this one to be able to run with the best commercial DACs out there.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far.

DrG, there is no need in making puns at a personal level when necessary measures are taken. There are other ways to criticise things, and preferably in other threads too

The posts that were moved contained the contents of a private email being posted here without permission of the original sender. That is simply against the rules. I hope you'll appreciate that diyaudio.com has respect for the privacy of its members.

Hajime, what do you consider to be the best commercial DACs and what makes you think they can be equaled with a DIY project found on the internet?

Jbokelman,

Hello there. I find the Audio Note and Wadia DACs the most interesting. If I could make an Audio Note DAC5 I'd be very happy.

I believe DIY designs are a great value as you can use top-quality components and tailor things to your liking.

what do you think about this:
http://www.geocities.com/yury_g/dac.htm
Im experimenting with one with AD 1865N-K instead of the "J" and with Pass D1 http://www.passlabs.com/prodlit/d1lit.htm Dac type I/V stage instead of the tube section.
